You’ve always had a mask in your wardrobe!

  • Women’s best friend, the dupatta!
  • You call it dupatta? We call it your best buddy
  • Level up your fashion styling with dupattas
  • Wondering why invest in dupattas? Here’s why!

An ardent Ekta Kapoor buff or not, you cannot deny that you've watched Prerna's red dupatta stuck- in-time in Anurag's lavish wrist watch and, truth be told, as cringey as it may sound, the show wouldn't have been the same without the iconic "red dupatta".

We've been using dupattas as far back as my memory goes. I, personally, have done it all. From draping the dupatta as saree when I was an infant, to being reprimanded for not wearing one by my grandmother as I grew up.  From using a silk dupatta in the chilling winters to cover up, to using it as a scarf to protect my skin from the harsh UV rays, a dupatta has been through it all with me, just like a best friend would! Heck, I've even used it to hide my face and run in the opposite direction to avoid unsolicited small talks.

I think it's high time I should honour all my dupattas with a "best friend" award. After all, being there in times of crisis is what best friends are for, right?

Talking of crisis, it's impossible to not think of the current coronavirus outbreak in the world.

I was wondering how functional it would be if we could drape our dupattas as masks. We can wear them as masks as long as required and switch them to normal dupatta mode thereafter! Ek teer se do nishane, more like dupatta-cum-mask!

Just kidding, but on an earnest note, we women already have tons of things that we've to carry everyday and dupatta cum masks would lessen at least one hassle of carrying a mask.  Moreover, this way we can get different looks everyday- new dupatta, new mask, new look! It's a win-win situation for all.

Most women already own a dupatta in their wardrobe so that'll save us from debiting the expense of several masks.

Also, for those of you who don't already own one (you all are a rare breed though), you've got a sea of options to choose from.

My personal favourite is Dupatta Bazaar. From traditional Bandhej or Bandhani dupatta to the royal Banarasi dupatta, from classy Silk dupatta to delicate Chiffon dupatta, or from the nawabi Lucknowi to elegant Bridal dupatta, you name it and they have got it. Most importantly, it's an Indian brand and we all remember "atma nirbhar", don't we? If you are intrigued, check out our website www.dupattabazaar.com for some stunning dupattas (cum masks) for women  ;)

Winding up, these are undeniably trying times but like everytime in the Indian history, rain or shine, we have emerged victorious. This time shall be no different but definitely à la mode, with Dupatta Bazaar by our side.

So hang in there, and while at it, keep your masks close and your dupattas closer.
